The History of Times Square

Times Square's story begins in the early 20th century when it was originally known as Longacre Square. In 1904, the area was renamed after The New York Times moved its headquarters Take out Times Square NYC   there, building the famous Times Tower at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. The newspaper hosted its first New Year’s Eve celebration in 1907, a tradition that continues to draw millions to this day.
